Claudine Schooley was the speaker for the club’s meeting. She is a member of the E Club of One World and has helped our club directly, working with Rick Chimblo and our involvement with international projects and Rotary Intercountry Committees (ICC). Currently Claudine is the Chair of the ICC USA-Ukraine Rotary Disaster Relief for Ukraine Coalition. In the past, her efforts have delivered wheelchairs to the Ukraine for disabled orphans, soldiers, and war victims. She shared that the current situation in the Ukraine has scattered, and potentially harmed, many of the orphans that need served by the wheelchair project.

The most impactful part of her presentation was a live Zoom contact with a friend of Claudine’s in the Ukraine, Vladimer, who share his current personal situation. One of the impacts of the war is the loss of infrastructure for utilities, including electricity. Her friend is currently looking to purchase a generator to provide a reliable source of electricty. Generators are available, but current price is $25,000 (US).
