Kristi Halvorson, our District 5500 Foundation Chair, covered many of the facets of Rotary International’s Foundation’s programs and channels for giving. It was a good first look for new members and refresher for those with miles on their “Rotary Wheel”.
Also, always a good reminder of Rotary’s commitment to ending polio worldwide – Polio Plus.

Here are Rotary’s current four grant programs:
- District Grant Fund
- Local or international small projects
- Short term with active club involvement
- May be a repeat project, if the beneficiaries are new
- Applications through the District
- These are funds members have donated to RI returning to the district, with a three year lag
- Global Grants Fund
- Large projects, that are sustainable and measurable
- Project needs to be in on of Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus
- An international Partnering Rotary Club is needed
- Applications to The Rotary Foundation
- New–A Grant Resource Team of experts, who are available to help with the paperwork.
- Programs of Scale (New in 2020-21)
- $2 million grant
- Supports Rotary member-led evidence-based programs that have already demonstrated success
- Longer-term resources to implement large-scale, high-impact programs
- 2022-23 Awardee is “United to End Cervical Cancer in Egypt”
- ‘Disasters of Great Magnitude’ Grants (New)
- Targeted funds for disaster relief and recovery efforts in areas that have been affected by natural disaster.
- Recent awards from this grant source: Ukraine; Pakistan, floods; Turkey, earthquakes; Syria; Morocco; Indonesia; Hurricane Ian; Maui, fires
- Rotary International also partners with ShelterBox for disaster relief

Club Business
● The club has ordered 30 wreaths to be part of the
Wreath’s Across America event at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Marana on
Dec 16 at 10 AM. Great Event!
● The dictionary distribution project is completed, with great success.
● Save the Date Advanced Notice – Taste of Oro Valley is March 30, 2024
