Meeting Speaker Spotlight

Our speaker for the meeting was introduced by honary club member Bruce Grant. The speaker was Jeremy Robinson, with an update on the Honduras Compassion Partners. Bruce and Jeremy are members of the Rotary Club of Prince Fredrick (MD), located southeast of Washington DC. Jeremy is currently the president of his Rotary Club, US president and board chairman of Honduras Compassion Partners. Our club is one of the clubs supporting a global grant for the work of the organization, and ready to support a second global grant for their work.

Much of their work is focused on providing potable water and sanitation, secure living conditions, and education for those in need in La Paz, Honduras. The organization’s goal is to provide opportunities to enhance self-sufficiency, healthy living, and dignity within the La Paz community.

Jeremy mentioned that there are numerous and ongoing opportunities to go to La Paz to help with and participate in the work of the organization. For more information about Honduras Compassion Partners, their goals and accomplishemnts, and volunteer opportunities see the website at www.hondurascompassion.org.
Donation to Impact

The first order of business for the February 2 meeting was the presentation of a check to Impact of Southern Arizona. The check was in the amount of $5,000. If you remember, these funds were the proceeds from a fashion show the BNI chapter put on. The funds were designated for organizations that support families in need. Our board chose to match that amount, so the efforts of BNI generated $10,000 for the Oro Valley Rotary Club to use in support of these important local organizations.
